Vladek has a normal life until the war. He enrols to become a soldier but is soon sent to a German war prison with scarcely any food he escapes to find his wife pale and sickly thin. As he hides in cellars and hidden rooms, smugglers promise an escape to Hungaria in a safe world. However, he was tricked. Life in the concentration camp is difficult and craziness is in reach. Surviving by lies Vladek won't live long but the war has not ended. Yet.
